Supporting digestive comfort

Digestive symptoms can be frustrating, uncomfortable and sometimes difficult to understand. Bloating, constipation, abdominal discomfort, reflux and changes in bowel habits can be influenced by many different factors, including diet, stress, breathing patterns, movement and the way the abdominal and pelvic regions function together.

Visceral osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on approach that considers the movement and relationship of the abdominal and pelvic organs with the surrounding muscles, fascia, diaphragm and nervous system. Treatment may focus on areas of tension or restriction within those tissues that could be influencing how your digestive system functions.

At Invicta Osteopathy, we take a whole-body approach rather than treating the abdomen in isolation. We may combine gentle visceral techniques with treatment of the spine, pelvis, ribcage and diaphragm, alongside movement and breathing strategies where appropriate. The aim is to support comfortable motility of your digestive tract.

Visceral osteopathy may be considered as part of a broader approach for people experiencing bloating, constipation, abdominal tension or discomfort, digestive sluggishness or reflux. Your symptoms and individual circumstances will always guide the assessment and treatment.

Osteopathy is complementary care and isn't a substitute for medical assessment of digestive symptoms. Persistent, new or unexplained digestive symptoms should be discussed with your physician or other appropriate healthcare professional.
